The Howard Hadley Gallery presents an exhibition of artists active in Hobart and Tasmania during the nineteenth century. The art exhibition features reproductions of watercolours and drawings. Colonial artists engaged with the Tasmanian landscape in a variety of ways. The artists featured are John Skinner Prout, Francis Guillemard Simpkinson de Wesselow and Louisa Anne Meredith.
Our art gallery presents a selection of reproductions. It offers a glimpse of the collection held by the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG).
Close collaboration between TMAG and Hadley’s Orient Hotel has facilitated the presentation of this exhibition at The Howard Hadley Gallery. Due to the delicacy of works on paper, photographic reproduction is the only way that these priceless pieces can remain permanently on display.
