The days are getting longer, we’ve left our gloves at home, and there’s the scent of cherry blossoms and magnolias in the breeze.

It’s springtime in Hobart, and we’re excited to welcome the new season.

Spring is the perfect season to visit some of the beautiful parks and gardens around Hobart. We recommend taking a stroll through St David’s Park — just a  few minutes from Hadley’s — or venture a little further to Princes Park in Salamanca or Arthur’s Circus in Battery Point (tiny but adorable!).

The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens is just a ten-minute drive from Hadley’s and is spectacular at any time of year, but especially in spring. Wander through gardens bursting with magnolias, rhododendrons, daffodils, tulips, irises, wisteria, lowland wildflowers, native orchids; it’s stunning!

Spring is also the perfect time to gather some goodies from the local markets! You can visit the Hobart Twilight Market every second Friday evening, which is a unique collection of food trucks, live music and local designers. Every Saturday, expect locals and tourists to flock to Salamanca Market for fresh produce and locally-made products. Then on Sunday, head to Farm Gate Market for the best street food in town, and even fresher produce!

For locally-made products such as jewellery, toys, skincare and accessories, head to the Hobart Handmade Makers Market, held once a month. Or for those with a penchant for fashion, you won’t regret visiting Re-Loved Market, also held once per month. Re-Loved has Hobart’s best threads from emerging designers, as well as re-loved and retro pieces.

If you can’t get to one of our local artisan markets, you can still buy some locally-made treasures in Hobart. For Tasmanian-made wares, shops like Lily & Dot in midtown Hobart, The Spotted Quoll in the CBD and Wild Island in Salamanca stock many locally-made pieces.

Whether you’re wandering through flowers, sampling some street food or picking out the perfect locally-made gift, springtime in Hobart is a great time to visit.
