The Language of textiles:

Unravelling ornament

25 Nov 2021 – 25 Jan 2022

Open 10:30am – 4pm daily

An exhibition that responds to the visually sumptuous surfaces of Hadley's Orient Hotel

Nine Tasmanian artists have spent time in our hotel, and have created artworks that respond to our elaborate interior decor. Taking inspiration from late Victorian designs, the interior decoration at Hadley’s Orient Hotel pays homage to the hotel's beginnings. The sumptuous collection of decorative carpets, wallpaper, upholstery and curtains combine to create an atmosphere of luxury and exoticism. Reflecting on the nature and meaning of textiles, these artists interpret their thoughts through drawing, sculpture, jewellery, photography and textile making.

Artworks are exhibited around many rooms and multiple levels of the hotel. Guests and visitors are welcome to explore.
